As detailed below, the data model for biblatex (plus Biber) is now
available for modification. Testing of biblatex 2/Biber 1 is very welcome.

On other matters, I have finally, painfully abstracted the data model
out of biblatex and made it configurable with a macro interface. The
data model is in a new file blx-dm.def which is loaded early (as a
data model must be ...). Users can override this with their own
special config file. Before, this was hard-coded in biber, now it is
passed in the .bcf. It's all documented, see the various
DeclareDatamodel macros. There are no more major items on the list so
more testing and then we can think about a release. 2.0 has probably
the largest amount of major new features than any other release ...
