He probably missed the appearance of color support in dvitomp
because it is implemented in the web2c change file (dvitomp.ch)
instead of in the main pascal web file.
Eddie Kohler added that bit of code in texlive in the spring of
2004, but it was never properly documented.
Since dvitomp is a fairly simple program, my crosscompiled win32
binary should be capable of working as a drop-in replacement for
the binary from miktex 2.6.
Quick recipe:
1. fetch this zip file:
http://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/download.php/471/metapost-1.000-windows.zip
2. unpack it in a temporary folder
3. now locate the executable dvitomp.exe from miktex on your disk
4. copy that executable to a safe place
5. move dvitomp.exe from the temporary folder over the one from miktex
6. try the document
[7. if it doesn't work, restore the saved miktex binary. In that case,
you are out of luck]
Best wishes, Taco
