Unbelievable.  I downloaded the original sources, as suggested, and 
unzipped one of the problem files.  It works properly, just as it did 
for you.  I don't know how FC can break something like unzip.

Original unzip gives the following:
$ unzip-5.51/unzip bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
    Archive:  bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
        linking: bin/i386-linux/latex    -> pdfetex
      inflating: texmf/lists/bin-latex.i386-linux
    finishing deferred symbolic links:
      bin/i386-linux/latex   -> pdfetex

FC3 unzip gives the following:
$ unzip bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
    Archive:  bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
        linking: bin/i386-linux/latex    warning:  symbolic link 
(bin/i386-linux/latex) failed
    error:  zipfile probably corrupt (segmentation violation)

Sorry about bringing up something that is specific to FC3.
