Ugh.  Then the only motivation for using Subversion as opposed to p4
appears to be that developers need not worry about proprietary
clients, making TeXlive potentially open to more active contributors.

If the bug reports end in the bin, using Subversion does nothing to
aid its development also for other developers.  So it is not a choice
benefiting Subversion, regardless of how desirable this would be.

I have no idea what the problem in communication is, whether the
report has been too vague or anything like that.  If Subversion can be
told to produce debug output, sending in a detailed report of what
Subversion has been spending its resources on during such an operation
might help.
