or a reason to talk with the author first ?!

Klaus Lagally is still around and quite active,
visiting the (now for a long time virtual-only( Stuttgart TeX "stammtisch" ("pub meeting") every month.

shall I ask him at our next meeting (every 2nd Tuesday in month, so next time May 10),
or do you have a "standardised process" before kicking out packages ?
