Follow-up Comment #2, bug #130 (project tex4ht):
Whereas the François' patch used to work nicely, it is not the case anymore,
despoite an up-to-date TeX Live 2012: the following MCE (say test.tex):
documentclass[french]{article}
usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
usepackage{babel}
usepackage{hyperref}
begin{document}
section{Some title}label{test}
Title section: nameref{test}.
end{document}
run with `htlatex test`, gives the following error:
! Missing endcsname inserted.
<to be read again>
special
l.10 Title section: nameref{test}
.
?
! Extra endcsname.
<argument> csname :autorefendcsname
{section}Some title
l.10 Title section: nameref{test}
.
and, in the html output, `nameref{test}` is replaced by: `:autorefsectionSome
title<!--tex4ht:ref: test -->`
