FYI;

I've downloaded dvisvgm version 2.5 sources, and compiled from sources
and used 2.5 in place of dvisvgm 2.3.5 which comes with texlive, hoping
the problem might be fixed.

But still the same error with 2.5:

>dvisvgm --version
dvisvgm 2.5

>which dvisvgm
/usr/local/bin/dvisvgm

>dvisvgm -n --exact  -p 1- index.idv
DVI error: page count in postamble doesn't match actual number of pages
