[texhax] Accents

Hello,

I have one little problem.

I wrote a book in Italian. I used the following commands:

\usepackage[italian]{babel}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}

In my book sometimes I have something like:

`What is your name?`

The problem is that LaTex decides that `? is a special symbol, that is a 
question mark upside down (?!?).

I can fix the problem writing:

`What is your name? `

But it's ugly.
I also tried to use the speciale command \something (I really cannot 
remember what it was, and cannot find it anymore, but it was used to make 
the ` character), but the problem was still there.

Does anyone know what I could do?
