I *can* reproduce the output, using an old teTeX 1.0.7 installation (TeX
Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.1), LaTeX2e <1999/12/01> patch level 1. This
is, unfortunately, the only installation available to me at this moment).
The problem disappears if one (for example) duplicates the last word in
the paragraph ("complete complete."), so I guess this is some kind of
special-case formatting bug. If possible, you should update your TeX
installation. If you already did this, and the problem still occurs, we'll
probably need to know your version numbers.
