[texhax] Searching for string in TEX file using XP

Hi, 

I have a query about .tex files.

I would like to know if there is a way to search for strings in a .tex 
file using Windows XP search facility.
I tried searching for words but Windows XP search facility  did not 
provide any results.
I tried converting the .tex to a .txt and it managed to find the string I 
was looking for.

Any help in the matter would be appreciated.
