[texhax] lighter \underbrace ?

hey there !

i'm probably not the only one that finds the standard \underbrace too 
``heavy'', especially if the thing underbraced is not too terribly wide....

i've seen one in the mathbx package, but i don't like the rest of the 
package... how can i get *just their \underbrace* ? i tried to ``cut 
out'' all the commands related to \underbrace in mathbx.def (and all the 
\DeclareFontFamily etc. related stuff frommathbx.sty), but I never got 
it working due to some font--problems : (

so anyway, does anybody know a way how to get a ``lighter'' underbrace ?
