[texhax] typeset

I have Mixtex 1.20e in my computer and I using WinEdt. I tried to Latex (PDFlatex) an article to get DVI
(PDF) form of the article but I could not. My computer says something like ( INITEXMF: tex.exe (pdftex.exe) failed on latex, I can't not find the default file.) How can I fix this problem. Sincerely yours.
