We may not have been alone in worrying about the disappearance of 
ligatures. 

Two mornings ago, an automatic upgrade came through to Reader 8 (you can 
tell that it is there because you are offered a new FREE GUIDE when you 
launch Reader.

I tried out all the ligatured fonts I had in a small test file, and they 
all show up fine.
