[texhax] Matrix With Stretchy Brackets

Hello,

Can someone help me figure out a way to code the attached math expression?

I found a helpful article here:

I started modifying the example there and got stuck on how to make the bracketed expression  occupy two rows:

\begin{tabular}{|l|l|} \hline
\multirow & 1 \hfill 2 \\ \hline
\multirow a & \left\{
        \begin{array}{cc}\hfill \mathrm{{x} }\hfill & \hfill \mathrm{{b} }\hfill
          \\
        \hfill \mathrm{{w} }\hfill & \hfill \mathrm{{z} }\hfill \end{array}
        \right\} \\
b & \phantom{M}\\ \hline
\end{tabular}

(I added the lines just to see what's going on)
