[texhax] TeX 2011

Dear supporter,

I have some questions regarding a TeXLive-Installation on MacOSX, and  
hope, that you could help me, or tell me, who else could.
I use TeX for some years now with LyX. As some things did not work,  
and the TeX Live Utility always told me, that the »Repository URL« has  
a newer version, I wanted to upgrade from 2011 to 2012. I did that  
over the internet, here:
http://tug.org/texlive/acquire-netinstall.html

Then I looked under »postinstall« in this site:
http://tug.org/texlive/quickinstall.html
and entered this line with the path in the terminal:
PATH=/usr/local/texlive/2011/bin/i386-linux:$PATH
is that the correct way? The terminal does nothing special, or  
nothing, after entering that line.

Now the TexLive Utility still reports, that there is a new 2011  
version, it does not seem to recognize the installation.
And now there are my two questions:
• What did i do wrong?
• How could I remove TeX 2011 after getting 2011 to work?

Thanks a lot, the things are a little unclear, sometimes confusing for  
me…
