[texhax] Page layout "drops" on screen

Dear Tug users

/

I have a problem using MiKteX 2.9 where the dvi output "slips down" the page
(on screen).

Using \hyperref as the last package entry cures this, but the compilation
takes a huge amount of time.

Does anyone know how to use a subset of \hyperref (or another fix) so as to
speed things up.

It may be worth commenting: when the pages have slipped, using "refresh"
brings them back to their correct positions.
