This three-day conference focuses on document production using LaTeX,
TeX, ConTeXt, MetaPost, and friends. An introductory LaTeX workshop with only a
nominal fee will run concurrently on the second day.
Since 2010 is TeX's 32nd birthday, the Grand Wizard has graciously
agreed to participate. In addition to Dr. Knuth, other original
Stanford TeX project members, including David Fuchs,
John Hobby, Oren Patashnik, Michael Plass,
Tom Rokicki, Luis Trabb-Pardo, and Howard Trickey, have
made plans to be present.
We will be scheduling several activities for the final day
(June 30), including the conference banquet, to honor their work
and celebrate TeX's 32nd anniversary.
Hope to see you there!
Dates and deadlines
- Accommodations:
- Rooms are reserved for TUG'10 participants
at the Sir Francis Drake,
in Union Square, downtown San Francisco (directions).
The presentations will also take place here.
- (As of June 4, these rates are no longer effective,
unfortunately.) Our rates were $99 per night for a single or double
room, $119 for a triple, $139 for a quad. Subject to room availability,
these rates are also extended to attendees for up to three days before
and after the conference, that is, June 25 through July 3.
- Please book directly with the hotel, mentioning the TeX Users Group
conference, via either the hotel
reservations web form using the rate code “TEX”, or hotel email, or
phone 800-795-7129 for the US, or +1 415-392-7755, or other international
phone numbers. The web form only supports single rooms.
- Internet access: Free at the conference hotel (both meeting
and guest rooms).
- Meals: Conference attendees can enjoy a free Sunday night
reception at the hotel (June 27, 5-7pm) and a banquet (optional
extra) on the last evening (7pm, Le
Colonial; street map). The registration
fee includes lunch on each day of the meeting, as well as morning and
afternoon coffee breaks. Breakfast is available at the hotel, but is
not included in the registration or hotel fees.
- Transportation: Information on
traveling by air, road, train, and/or bus is available. The hotel
parking garage has a separate, and considerable, fee of $46/night.
Nearby parking garages (web, pdf) are slightly cheaper. If you don't expect
to need qui access to your car during the conference, a couple blocks
away is an much cheaper
garage. Another option is the nearby Enterprise
rent-a-car location at 819 Ellis St., daily rentals being cheaper
than parking; they do pick-up/drop-off.
