Oh Reinhard I am sorry but those who have said so already are correct.

To say "I'm wondering whether a mail with such a braindead subject  
line..." in anyone's language cannot be interpreted in any other way.  
It is arrogant and rude.

It is not that others misunderstood you, it is that you constructed it  
to be that way.

And as Paul said. That is all that needs to be said on the subject.  
The OPs distress may still exist.
